Helsinki Debating Society ry ("us", "we", or "our") operates http(s)://www.helsinkidebating.fi (the "Site"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information we receive from users of the Site. This Privacy Policy is only valid for the Sites www.helsinkidebating.fi and helsinkidebating.fi. For other subdomains of *.helsinkidebating.fi other Privacy Policies apply.

Responsible for the personal data gathered through the Site is Helsinki Debating Society ry. This Site is hosted on the server of a Finnish hosting company in Finland. The web server on this server is configured by the company itself. A DPA in line with art. 28 Regulation (EU) 2016/679 [GDPR] is concluded with our hosting provider.

We use your Personal Information only for providing and improving the Site.

Log-Files

By entering the Site, due to the connection established over the Internet, some data is present from the very beginning. We only collect minimal amounts of data.

The following data is stored in our log-files:

  • IP-address;
  • HTTP-User-Agent containing name, version, engine of Browser; used Operating System and technical information thereto; if mobile phone: the model of the mobile phone and technical information thereto;
  • time and date of every page visit and files accessed;
  • type of request (e.g. HTTP-GET or POST);
  • amount of data transmitted;
  • success of the request;
  • referrer-URL.

We store the IP-address temporarily in order to protect ourselves from misuse of the Site. The reason for collecting and storing this data is art. 6(1)(f) Regulation (EU) 2016/679.

The log-files which we are holding and controlling are temporarily stored and deleted after 24 hours.

Cookies

"Cookies" are files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your device's data storage. Like many sites, we use cookies to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Doing this will not affect your user experience of the Site.

On this Site, we use a Cookie-Consent cookie. If you are not fine with what we are doing with your personal data, according to art. 77 GDPR you always have the right to file a complaint with the competent data protection authority (Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman in Finland).
